Judging
Apr 27th
It’s amazing to me how easy it is to judge people.
We see them, we see what they are wearing…. what they smell like… how they are acting.
And we score them. We judge them based on other people that we have know that look, and act like they do.
It blows my mind how easy it is to judge people…… until we are in their shoes.
Until it’s our kid that is being loud at the restaurant.
Until it’s our job that was just lost.
Until it’s our marriage that is falling apart.
Until it’s our sin that is exposed.
I am not making excuses, just realizing how much grace Jesus walked in where ever he went. Jesus was truly the only perfect person to ever lived, the only person that had the position and right to judge, and the only people I see Him judging are the religious hypocrites.
Matthew 7:1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” (ESV)
Life and more abundantly – sort of
Mar 12th
If Christ came to bring us life and life more abundantly (John 10:10)… then why are so many Christians living less then lives. I know that I struggle with living a less-then life all the time. Why do you think so many Christians are not living abundant lives ? Please don’t think I am talking about abundance = money… not even close. But abundance in the way that we are so filled with the love, joy, and peace of Christ we can give it away freely…. because we live in abundance of those things.
I think it has to do with the first half of John 10:10.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy
I used to think that “the thief” was an obvious display of Satan. Something that was blatant and easily seen. But the truth is a thief is usually not seen, comes in the dark… and takes what he wants before you know he was even there. In the book “When Heaven Invades Earth” Bill Johnson talks about the “anti christ” and how one of the greatest tricks of the thief is to trick Christians into accepting a Christianity without power. The thief tricks us into thinking that we can live without the power that comes from the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to give us the power to live this abundant life He spoke of. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can really live a life abundantly. So my question to you is this… how are you going to rely on the Holy Spirit today ? How are you going to connect with Him and live the abundant life with the power that He gives to us ?
Please God…does anyone want to anymore ?
Jul 31st
Maybe I am just sick of hearing about friends and loved ones turning away from God and doing really stupid things, that jack up their lives (and the lives of their kids, spouses and friends). Maybe I am tired of hearing preachers just preach feel good messages. But I want to know… does anyone want to please God anymore ? I don’t remember the last time I even heard that phrase. What happened to holiness ? What happened to faithfulness ? What happened to living to please God.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
I hope as you read this you do not mistake frustration with judgment. Where are the pastors that are preaching about practical holiness ? Where are the people that are willing to lay down their own desires and pick up the cross ?
Honor where it is due
Mar 29th
Last Sunday I had the honor of leading worship, with my wife, at Newheart Foursquare. We were there to honor Pastor Paul for 20 years of marriage, 20 years serving at the same church, and his 40th birthday. It was a very emotional time, got to see alot of old friends and loved ones, Stace grew up at that church…and I was on staff there for a few years as the worship leader. It was great to honor such a Man of God as Paul Kuzma. He has taught me so much over the years, mostly by example.
My favorite thing about Paul is this—what you see is what you get. I have always felt welcome and safe when I am around him. And his heart for worship is deep. As soon as he picks up a guitar and starts to strum you are ushered into the presence of Jesus…and I am thankful that he taught me how to draw close to Jesus during worship.
As for me…leading worship this weekend was alot of fun. It made me miss fulltime ministry alot. Although there is politics behind church doors…I hear a deep calling to deep in my heart. Not sure how this will all play out, but I am definitely open to what Jesus is leading us into in this season.
A.I. Top 3 to win it all
Mar 1st
PARIS BENNETT

TAYLOR HICKS

ELLIOTT YAMIN

Another year…another winner will be crowned American Idol. These are my top 3 picks this season. Paris reminds me of the old school soul women of yesteryear. Shes got so much natural talent and ability that there is no stopping this kid. Taylor is the most unique “real” contestant I think A.I. has ever seen. I would buy his CD right now if I could. Elliot is as smooth as it gets. He commands the stage-even though he doesn’t have “the look”. Once you hear his voice you forget about that. One of these 3 will win, and if you are a betting person I charge a 10% commision for my inside info.
sad on more than one level
Feb 28th

I saw this article link from the Drudge Report this morning; and my heart broke. I can’t imagine the pain someone would have to feel in order to change his physical gender. Mr. McBeth is a 71 year old man that just had “gender reasignment” surgery. He was a sub teacher at a Modesto elementry school before the sex change op. And now he wants to come back as Mrs. McBeth. What kind of self absorbed man would do this to children ? It is disgusting and wrong imo (I dont really care about what he has done to himself…but to subject little children to the confusion and choas this man is undergoing in his own mind is just wrong.)
My friend Andy wrote a blog titled “Down with the Man” last week. In it he talked about the sissification (my word) of the role of a man. Well it seems Mr. Mcbeth is taking this to a whole different level. Normally I would have just read this article and let is slip by. But the fact that Mr. Mcbeth wants to subject little ones to such confusion really pisses me off. There is a word for what he is trying to do: WRONG. It is wrong for a grown man to carelessly disreguard innocence and try to strip it away from helpless little ones. It is wrong for people to stand by and do nothing, say nothing, feel nothing.
innocence
Feb 10th
And a child will lead them. Oh the days of youth and innocence. What I would give to start over again, to have the slate wiped clean, to have no regrets or memories of wasted chances. He said,”you must come as a child.” Then take away this self reliance and rebellion from my heart. Take away the fear of intimacy and vulnerability. Help me gain back my childish faith in you. Please Abba Father.
life
Jan 16th
Not sure if its supposed to be like this:life is busy. Sometimes I wonder how I will manage when little ones come our way. It seems like just with the 3 of us, me/stace/andre, life is so hectic. I guess I better just get used to it. It makes me appreciate the quite times I get to spend with my wife..cuddling in bed, taking andre for a walk, or driving here and there with her, in between craziness. FYI I love my wife very much and I can’t imagine life without her…not would I ever want to.
Marriage Myths
Nov 28th

Looks like those in marriages are happier, have more seks, and are generally nicer people. At least according to MSN.As some one that is married I would like to say that I have come to the same conclusions. Check it out and lemme know what you think.
